It's important to understand the difference between accidental damage and fair wear and tear. This distinction determines whether a repair is covered by a standard service or if it will be charged to you.
What is Fair Wear and Tear?
Fair wear and tear is the expected and natural deterioration of a bike that occurs through normal, everyday use. This is a gradual process and is not caused by a single, specific event. Examples of fair wear and tear can include:
Minor cosmetic damage that does not affect the functionality or safety of the bike and its components.
The gradual reduction in brake pad effectiveness over time.
The thinning of tire treads.
Normal chain and gear degradation.
What is Accidental Damage?
Accidental damage is a sudden, unexpected, and specific incident that causes damage to the bike. This is damage that is not a result of normal use. You are responsible for the cost of repairs for accidental damage, as well as certain other issues that are not considered part of a standard service.
Examples of accidental damage and other chargeable repairs include:
Punctured or flat tires
Lost keys
A flat battery (which is not a manufacturing defect)
Damage from an accident or collision
A bent wheel, frame, or other components
Damage due to improper use or neglect
ℹ While standard services are provided at no cost, if Zoomo or its representative identifies any damage that is not considered fair wear and tear, you will be responsible for the cost of those repairs. We recommend regular services of your bike at one of our locations.
